If you can’t ship, don’t start
It’s a waste of time.
Brainstorming ideas is fun, and a great creative practise.
But if you don’t have time/energy/resources to ship, then don’t start the project.
If it’s a client project, politely decline and recommend a way forward.
If it’s a personal project, save the idea in your second brain note taking system.
Remember, shipping is hard.
You need to double the time you think it will take.
You need to double the cost you expect to incur.
And don’t underestimate the dip, which is when inspiration ends.
Also, don’t forget you probably have other work to do. And a life to live!
Maybe this once you’ll have to pass on creating Uber for dog walkers.
Whatever the project, if you can’t realistically finish, it’s a waste of time starting.
